Joshua Morgan, founder of Choptank restaurant in New York City, and partners Demanding ventures, brings New York City an all-inclusive Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast. Nothing epitomizes Maryland culture more than blue crabs. For the first time ever, New York will have the opportunity to experience the taste of the Chesapeake Bay and its wonderful tradition of crab eating on such a large scale.
Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast will give New Yorkers the experience of an authentic Maryland crab feast featuring the best blue crabs from the Chesapeake Bay. Live crabs will be steamed on site. Guests will enjoy the pleasure of cracking and picking hot crabs, complimented with traditional fixings and side favorites. Tickets will include all you can eat crabs, sides, all you can drink beer, and live music.
The feast will also include to date:
• Maryland Blue Crab’s will be steamed with Old Bay
• Side dishes of cole slaw, potato salad and corn
• Utz potato chip
• Cold beer
• Cocktails from Domaine de Cantone
• O.N.E. Coconut Water
• Crumb’s Cupcakes and much much more
There will be a exclusive kick-off event, dinner seating held the evening of Friday, September 23rd, incorporating a headlining band which is to be announced at a later date. This dinner will give our participants a preview and an exclusive taste at the Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast before the proceeding events throughout the weekend.
Choptank’s fame is found in classic Chesapeake Bay fare. This first annual crab feast brings back all the flavors Choptank had to offer in hopes of making Hammer & Claws your annual summer event for getting your crab fix.

Chesapeake Bay Foundation:
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s (CBF) mission is to Save the Bay and its tributary rivers, broadly recognized as a national treasure and water quality standards. The Chesapeake Bay system serve as valuable habitat for both terrestrial and aquatic life. A portion of the proceeds from the Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast will be donated to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to help the foundation in their continuing efforts of restoring and protecting the Chesapeake Bay.
Joshua Morgan:
Joshua Morgan was born and raised in Maryland but now resides in New York City. Morgan wanted to bring the taste and feel of the Maryland shores to the City for his fellow New Yorkers, in 2010 Morgan opened Choptank Restaurant-New York’s first Maryland inspired restaurant on Bleeker Street in the West Village. The restaurant received great reviews but due to unforeseen circumstances, Choptank was forced to close down in December 2010.
